Since we began the Hall in 1998, nearly 200 athletes, builders and teams have been inducted. See whose accomplishments have been recognized. Our present inductees include several Olympic gold medalists, 10 world champions and 14 Canadian champions. Currently 27 sports are represented by inductees.
We are located at the Cambridge Centre on Hespeler Road, adjacent to the ice rink and the food court. Come see our displays and exhibits, which we change on a regular basis. We strive to have artifacts from every inductee on display at any given time.
We hold several public events each year including our annual induction ceremony, typically on the first Saturday in May — but this year rescheduled to May 1, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We also hold or participate in various fundraising events such as our annual golf tournament (postponed due to COVID-19), the awarding of scholarships to outstanding high school students (cancelled due to COVID-19), and also participate in the Cambridge Sports Awards dinner, where our inductees are revealed each year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our events — including our vitally important annual fundraising golf tournament — have had to be cancelled or rescheduled. But the work goes on to celebrate the unique sports heritage of our community, and the deeds of our athletes, builders and teams.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To annually induct athletes, athletic teams, and builders, as determined by the Cambridge Sports Hall Of Fame selection committee, to the Cambridge Sports Hall Of Fame (CSHF).
To establish and maintain a permanent and public sports hall of fame in the city of Cambridge where displays – words, pictures and other memorabilia – celebrate the unique sporting heritage of Cambridge.
To perpetuate the names and deeds of Cambridge’s sports figures.
